Competitive Programs:
If your athlete is interested in competitive cheerleading it is highly recommended that they join a recreational program with GBCA first in order to build a strong and safe cheerleading foundation. Having a background in gymnastics, dance or another strength based sport is helpful, but will not guarantee you will be placed on a team right away. Committed and coachable athletes will be considered for competitive programming.
Athlete evaluations will be held to assess the proficiency in which each athlete can perform the required skills in each level. Please note that the placement of your child is at the discretion of the GBCA coaching staff. Team placement is never final, and may vary each year. The goal of team placement is to place the athletes where they can progress safely and be successful, but also still have a fun learning and growing experience. Tryouts for competitive teams will take place in the late spring of each year, in preparation for the following fall. The competitive season starts up full-time in September and runs through until the end of April.
