Owner/Head Coach: Jill Tanner
As the creator and head coach of the OSCVI Falcons competitive cheerleading program (2013-2016) and the head coach and creator of the OSDSS Wolves competitive cheerleading program (2016-2019), Jill Tanner has been the face of cheerleading in the Owen Sound area for many years. Now as the owner and head coach of Georgian Bay Cheer Athletics Jill has over 10+ years of experience in competitive Cheerleading, and was once a competitive cheerleader herself at Brock University where she graduated with a Bachelor of Kinesiology (Honours) degree. Prior to her athletic career as a Cheerleader, Jill began her love for sport through gymnastics, training competitively for many years and coaching for many more. Jill is certified to coach both recreational and competitive gymnastics and is one of the only coaches in the Owen Sound area certified with both the International Cheer Union (ICU) as well as being a certified Level 2 Women's Artistic Gymnastics coach. Jill is also CPR/First aid certified and an active Registered Kinesiologist with the College of Kinesiologists of Ontario. Credentials aside, Jill is dedicated to health and wellness and fully believes in the many benefits of organized group sport for young athletes; she looks forward to training and educating the next generation!
MY EXPERIENCE IN CHEER: as a retired competitive cheerleader, "I have seen first-hand the benefits associated with the sport of cheerleading. This sport is both physically and mentally challenging in the most positive way possible! Not only does an athlete take on individual responsibilities, such as maintaining the physical and mental strength needed to complete the required skills, but the athlete is also responsible for learning discipline, time management, how to adapt to change, and how to be a good teammate – all of which double as valuable life skills! I have learned so much over the last few years from juggling full-time work, becoming a volunteer coach and small business owner, to being an active partner in my personal life and most recently a new Mom! After wearing many hats (sometimes at the same time) I have learned the importance of organization, communication and time management. I look forward to leading and mentoring the next generation of cheerleaders!" - Jill Tanner

THE BLAZE.
The Georgian Bay Cheer Athletics logo represents the decision to blaze a new trail for youth in sport; to step away from the straight and narrow, and try something new! The two orange rectangles in the logo represent the “blaze” - a symbol used on the Bruce Trail, a pathway that is historic to the Georgian Bay area. The blaze symbol represents direction, and the sport of cheerleading is a new activity being introduced to the Grey Bruce area.
Georgian Bay Cheer Althletics will blaze the trail for the sport of cheerleading as it will be the first All-Star cheerleading club to open in the Owen Sound area!
